SES Notification 

SES Application  (available during SES enrollment window)

Supplemental Educational Services (SES) are tutoring programs available free of cost to eligible students who attend a school that is designated Program Improvement Year 2 or beyond. 

 

In 2012-2013, eligible students at the following schools may apply for SES:

  • Coleman
  • San Pedro
  • Venetia Valley
  • Davidson
  • San Rafael High School

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can use SES? Students must attend a school that has been categorized as a Program Improvement school for two or more years and be elgigible to receive free or reduced lunch.  Students who score the lowest (Far Below Basic and Basic) on the CSTs will be given first priority. 

 

Does my child have to participate? No, SES programs are completely optional.

 

My child received SES last year. Can s/he recieve SES again? Yes, if your child still attends a school designated PI2+. 

 

Who are the tutors? Some tutors are part of large national companies, and some tutors are from small local companies.  Some tutors have credentials, like a classroom teacher, and some tutors are trained through the tutoring company.  The State Board of Education is responsible for identifying SES providers for SRCS.

 

What kinds of tutoring programs are offered? Tutoring programs may be after school or on the weekend, sessions may occur one-on-one or in groups or via the internet, and tutoring may take place in your home, on school campus, at the tutoring facility, or the public library.  See provider details for more information.

 

Will transportation be provided? No. Parents must provide their own transportation to and from the SES program.

 

How do I apply to have my child participate?  Parents have an opportunity to request SES for their children in October and February.  Applications comlpeted during the SES registration window should be returned to your child's school or the SRCS District Office, Room 605.
