SRCS 10/9/20 Update: TK-5 Teacher and Staff "Safety Week" and Phased Approach
Posted 10/9/20

Dear San Rafael City Schools TK-5 Community,

The safety of our students and staff remain at the center of our decision-making process as we plan when to bring back our elementary students. As we’ve shared, we are partnering with Marin Health and Human Services and local healthcare providers to offer free, confidential and optional COVID testing so we can better understand our local data to guide our decisions regarding timing for in-person learning.

Following all safety protocols and procedures is critical to the success of in-person learning. To help ensure protocols and procedures are in place and understood before any in-person learning begins, we now have a “Safety Week” scheduled for elementary teachers and staff for the week of Oct. 19-23. During this week, teachers and staff will have dedicated time to comprehensively review the school safety plan and prepare their classrooms. “Safety Week” will now replace conference week. Grade TK-5 conferences will not take place, except for students in Connected Classrooms. Monday, Oct. 19 will remain a non-student day, and Tuesday through Friday will be asynchronous learning after lunch. Here is the schedule for Tues-Fri.

While we are not able to announce our specific timeline yet, we do want to share with you more information about our slow, measured approach. Please see our tentative plan below, without the specific dates at this time.
